About this position
VIB’s Laboratory of Causal Systems Immunology is recruiting a PhD student or postdoctoral researcher for an in vivo CRISPR screening project focused on immune-cell states, single-cell perturbation technologies, and systems immunology. The work sits at the intersection of experimental biology, computational biology, bioinformatics, and causal inference / probabilistic AI, with opportunities to work on either the dry-lab side, wet-lab side, or a hybrid profile.
The lab is embedded in the VIB Center for AI & Computational Biology and the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research, and aims to uncover how genes shape immune-cell behavior in development and disease. The project involves improving the screening pipeline, developing single-cell methods and vector design, applying the technology in new biological contexts, analyzing perturbational data, and validating computational predictions experimentally.
Eligibility: PhD applicants should hold a Master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, or a related field. Postdoctoral applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant area. Experience in experimental or computational biology and strong English communication skills are required.
Funding: The post offers a competitive salary and full benefits. No scholarship name or tuition waiver is mentioned.
How to apply: Apply via the online form at the VIB jobs portal. Submit a motivation letter and scientific CV, and ideally include contact details for at least one referee. The deadline stated in the post is 30 October 2026.
