About this position
The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Warsaw is recruiting for a postdoctoral position in a project titled “Surface-functionalized lipid-based nonlamellar nanoparticles as carriers for peptide antibiotics”, financed by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN). The project is led by dr hab. Ewa Nazaruk and is based in the Laboratory of Bionanostructures at the University of Warsaw.
The research sits at the interface of inorganic chemistry, biophysical chemistry, and nanomaterials. The successful candidate will investigate interactions between prepared carriers and model bacterial membranes using techniques such as SAXS, fluorescence-based methods, microscopic approaches, and related analytical tools. The role also includes preparation of lipid nanostructures, development of surface-functionalized versions incorporating antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), and characterization via small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and dynamic light scattering (DLS).
This is a full-time, temporary postdoctoral contract for 12 months starting around December 2026 / January 2027, with the possibility of extension. The remuneration is 140,000 PLN brutto-brutto. The position is funded through an NCN project rather than an EU Research Framework Programme.
Applicants should have a PhD in chemistry or a related field by the first day of work, a track record of scientific publications, hands-on experimental research experience, and strong skills in SAXS, fluorescence spectroscopy, confocal microscopy, and lipid membrane/nanostructure work. Experience with electrochemical methods such as EIS and QCM is an advantage. Good English at B2 level or higher is required, along with the ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment. The employer also notes that candidates must meet the legal requirements for academic staff in Poland.

Candidates must also meet the requirements of Article 113 of the Polish Act on Higher Education and Science.
