About this position
Post-Doctoral Fellow (Computational Biology) – Srivastava Lab at The Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, United States.
The Srivastava Lab is a hybrid computational-experimental group working at the intersection of computational biology, single-cell genomics, RNA biology, cancer, bioinformatics, long-read sequencing, and multi-omics. The lab develops and applies cutting-edge single-cell long-read RNA sequencing technologies, including microfluidics-free platforms, and uses multi-omics approaches at single-cell resolution to study fundamental biological questions.
This postdoctoral role is specifically for a computational methods developer. The successful candidate will build algorithms and software for the lab’s single-cell long-read platform, including isoform-level quantification methods and multi-omics integration for disease-relevant single-cell data. The lab is looking for someone who can point to a tool, package, pipeline, or algorithm they have built and that others use. Strong Python and/or R programming in Linux/command-line environments is required, along with experience in single-cell and/or long-read sequencing data (Oxford Nanopore, PacBio). A first-author peer-reviewed publication is required.
Preferred experience includes molecular biology and sequencing library preparation, isoform-level transcriptomics, alternative splicing, transcript quantification, and reproducible software practices such as containers, version control, and workflow managers.
The position offers competitive salary and excellent benefits, plus mentored training in single-cell and bulk multi-omics analysis, long-read sequencing technologies, novel platform development, and cancer/RNA biology applications.
To apply, submit the online application via the job portal and email your CV, publication list (published and in preparation), cover letter, and three references to [email protected]. The posting links to Dr. Avi Srivastava’s publications and the Wistar Institute website for more information.
