About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow in AI, Computational Biology, and Systems Biology at Penn State University Park (Penn State University).

This full-time postdoctoral opening sits at the intersection of AI, computational biology, systems biology, genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and physiology. The project focuses on integrating large-scale multi-omic datasets to uncover molecular mechanisms, regulatory networks, disease-associated pathways, therapeutic targets, and organ cross-talk, including responses to exercise.

Research directions include multi-omics integration, long-read RNA sequencing and rRNA isoform discovery using PacBio HiFi and other long-read platforms, single-cell RNA-seq analysis, cell-type-specific molecular profiling, gene regulatory network inference (e.g., GENIE3, SCENIC), and computational approaches for therapeutic target discovery and prioritization.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, genomics, genetics, biostatistics, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, or a related field. Strong programming in Python and/or R is expected, along with experience in Linux/HPC environments, workflow development, statistical modeling, machine learning, reproducible pipelines, and analysis of high-throughput biological datasets. Experience with long-read transcriptomics, single-cell transcriptomics, and multi-omic integration is especially valued.

Funding: the post is a term position with continuation dependent on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding. Penn State notes a competitive benefits package for full-time employees.

How to apply: submit a CV, a brief statement of research experience and interests, a description of relevant computational and bioinformatics expertise, and contact information for three professional references. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
