About this position

Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia.

This is a part-time, 12-month fixed-term postdoctoral research position focused on the project “Oral Her-story Archive: Feminist Activism in Response to Child Sexual Assault in New South Wales (1980-present)”. The role centers on building an oral history archive documenting feminist activism, children’s rights advocacy, and the social, political, and legal contexts surrounding child sexual assault in NSW from the 1980s to the present.

The successful candidate will work closely with Associate Professor Zora Simic and contribute to stakeholder liaison, interview protocol development, oral history methodology, ethics and compliance, interviewing and transcription, coding, archive cataloguing, digitisation, and preparation of materials for a public-facing website. The role also includes preliminary literature review, contextual historical research, and support for future funding applications.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD (or equivalent experience) in History or a related field such as gender/cultural studies or sociology; experience in oral history and/or qualitative interviewing, especially on sensitive topics; familiarity with trauma-informed and feminist methodologies; and relevant research/work experience.

Funding and conditions: employment is part-time (14 hours per week) at Level A with remuneration of $95,036-$126,711 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading, pro rata. Additional leave and staff benefits are also listed.
