About this position

Postdoctoral position at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland, within Team 13: Physical chemistry of complex systems.

The project is part of the National Science Centre (NCN) OPUS 30 grant, project no. 2025/59/B/ST3/01980, titled Multiscale Modelling of Metabolite Channeling: Physiological Insights and Optimization of Enzyme Cascades, led by dr hab. Svyatoslav Kondrat. The work focuses on developing a multiscale simulation framework for enzymatic systems and applying it to understand how enzyme proximity, macromolecular crowding, and nanocaging regulate cascade efficiency. The broader scientific context includes condensed matter physics, physical chemistry of biological systems, molecular biophysics, biomechanics, and bioenergetics.

The successful candidate will contribute to computational modelling across molecular, cellular, and biotechnological scales, and the results will support the predictive design of synthetic enzyme cascades and nanocage-based biocatalytic systems. The project is carried out in collaboration with Forschungszentrum Jülich and Queen’s University Belfast, which will provide experimental validation and characterisation.

This is a full-time postdoctoral appointment for 36 months, with a gross salary of around 9600 PLN per month. The position is open to candidates with a PhD in physics, biophysics, computational science, or a related field, together with strong Python and C/C++ skills, knowledge of simulation packages, and familiarity with enzyme kinetics. Applicants should have an excellent publication record, strong independent and collaborative working ability, and excellent English communication and scientific writing skills.

Applications must be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line “Recruitment no42/2026”. Required documents include a CV, university diploma, and proof of PhD degree. The deadline is 24 August 2026 at 12:00 (Europe/Warsaw). Shortlisted candidates may be invited to interview, and the recruitment results are planned for 2 September 2026.
