About this position
Post-doctoral Research Fellowship (BIPD) at REQUIMTE, University of Porto, Portugal
This position is a post-doctoral research fellowship within the project POMCELL (reference COMPETE2030-FEDER-00666500), hosted by REQUIMTE - Rede de Química e Tecnologia at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto. The project is supported by FEDER (COMPETE 2030) and national funds through FCT/MECI. The work is centered on materials engineering and advanced electrochemical materials for energy storage.
The successful researcher will contribute to Tasks 1, 2, 6, and 7 of the project. Core activities include the synthesis of polyoxometalates (POMs), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), carbon materials, and composites for use as cathode/anode materials in sodium-ion batteries. The role also includes morphological, compositional, spectroscopic, and electrochemical characterization, plus benchmarking against state-of-the-art materials. In addition, the fellow will support dissemination, project communication, coordination, supervision and training of students, and preparation of publications, reports, and conference presentations.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry or a closely related area, awarded within the previous three years. Relevant experience is required in the synthesis and characterization of POMs, MOFs, and carbon materials, together with electrochemistry and battery characterization techniques such as cyclic voltammetry, EIS, and galvanostatic cycling. The doctorate-awarding host institution must be different from Laboratório Associado para a Química Verde - Tecnologias e Processos Limpos. Foreign degrees must meet the formal requirements under Decree-Law no. 341/2007.
The fellowship runs for 12 months and may be renewed for additional 12-month periods up to a maximum of 24 months, provided it does not exceed the project end date of 30/05/2028. The expected start is September 2026. The monthly stipend is €1,901, paid by bank transfer, and the award also includes reimbursement of voluntary social security payments and work insurance.
The application window is open from 06/08/2026 to 19/08/2026. Applicants must email their application to [email protected] with the reference REQUIMTE 2026-49 in the subject line and include a CV, motivation letter, qualifications certificate, and any other relevant documents in PDF format.
This is an excellent opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher with strong expertise in chemistry, materials synthesis, electrochemistry, and battery materials to join a project focused on next-generation sodium-ion battery electrode materials at the University of Porto.
