About this position
Chalmers University of Technology is advertising a postdoc in novel approaches for compact optical parametric amplifiers (OPAs) and optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) at the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience / Photonics Laboratory. The project sits at the intersection of photonics, optics, nonlinear optics, physics, electrical engineering, and nanofabrication, with applications in next-generation laser sources for spectroscopy, quantum technologies, and advanced imaging.
You will work experimentally in the nanofabrication lab and related labs, contributing to device development and exploring new concepts for compact OPA/OPO systems. The role also includes participation in teaching, supervision, and collaborative projects, making it a strong fit for candidates who want to combine hands-on lab work with academic development.
Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree in a relevant field (or equivalent foreign degree) awarded no more than 3 years before the deadline; experience with photonic device fabrication in a cleanroom and/or experimental studies of nonlinear optical parametric devices; a record of research and teaching achievements; and strong English communication skills. The department expects some teaching familiarity and good potential in both research and education.
Funding and contract: this is a temporary full-time employment for two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension. It is an employee position with Chalmers benefits; no stipend amount is stated. The position requires physical presence throughout the employment and a valid residence permit by the start date.
Application: submit the application in English as PDF files via the online application form. Include a comprehensive CV with publications and teaching/pedagogical experience, plus a personal letter describing your background, research outcomes, and future research goals. Applications are reviewed periodically, and the deadline is 30 November 2026.
