About this position
Postdoc in Computational Palaeoproteomics at the Globe Institute, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
This 30-month, full-time postdoc starts on 1 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The project sits in the Palaeoproteomics research group led by Professor Enrico Cappellini and focuses on building high-throughput computational infrastructure for palaeoproteomics and targeted biological sex identification.
The work combines computational palaeoproteomics, mass-spectrometry data analysis, bioinformatics, and research software development. The successful candidate will develop and maintain scientific software and automated workflows for reproducible processing, quality control, and interpretation of DDA and PRM proteomics data from ancient and highly degraded protein samples. The role also involves database-backed sample and workflow traceability, HPC-based automation, and collaboration with laboratory scientists, archaeologists, bioinformaticians, and external partners.
Required profile: a PhD in palaeoproteomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, archaeological science, or a closely related field; experience with LC-MS/MS proteomics analysis; experience with DDA and targeted PRM workflows using tools such as MaxQuant and Skyline; strong R/Python and Bash skills; Linux/HPC workflow automation; database/web application development (e.g. Java/Spring, Vaadin, PostgreSQL); reproducible software practices; and excellent English communication.
Desirable experience includes high-throughput targeted proteomics for biological sex identification from tooth enamel, R Shiny, de novo peptide sequencing tools such as InstaNovo, validation using independent evidence, secure role-based systems, teaching/supervision, and grant or translational research experience.
