About this position

Postdoc opportunity at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in engineering education, focused on student progression and retention of knowledge and skills within the IDEE initiative (Initiative on Innovation in Delft Engineering Education).

The project explores how to create a seamless curriculum continuum across TU Delft engineering programmes. The postdoctoral researcher will help conceptualize progression and retention in practical engineering education settings, identify factors influencing progression and retention, study intended/enacted/experienced curricula, develop evidence-based curriculum design guidelines, and empirically test curriculum interventions across different programmes.

This is a multidisciplinary role within TU Delft’s Teaching Academy and the cross-faculty IDEE programme. The selected candidate will work with TU Delft staff members and a PhD student in four work packages, contributing to research and innovation in higher education.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Educational Studies, Cognitive Psychology, science, or engineering; strong interest in engineering education; familiarity with higher education/university contexts; experience or willingness to do action research and mixed methods; ability to coordinate research with a multidisciplinary team and multiple stakeholders.

Funding and conditions: paid postdoctoral employment, salary range €3706–€5760, 36–40 hours/week, 1-year contract with prospect of another year. Benefits include pension, flexible working, leave hours, training opportunities, and partially paid parental leave.
