About this position
Postdoctoral position at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, working on the MetNH3Energy project at the intersection of hydrogen, ammonia, sustainability, and the energy transition.
The project focuses on assessing the techno-economic and environmental performance of three ammonia value chains to identify sustainable pathways for carbon footprint reduction. The research includes process modeling, ex-ante techno-economic analysis (TEA), and life cycle assessment (LCA), with scenario-based “what-if” analyses for technologies that are not yet commercial. The work is framed by EU policy initiatives such as REPowerEU, REFuelEU, and FuelEU Maritime, and aims to support low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia solutions for Europe.
Applicants should have a PhD-level background in chemical engineering or process systems engineering, with proven experience in process modelling tools such as ASPEN and in LCA. Strong English communication and writing skills are required, along with the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and contribute actively to the energy transition.
The appointment is temporary for 1 year, with a workload of 32–40 hours per week. Salary is listed as €3706–€5760 under the Dutch Universities collective labour agreement, with standard TU Delft benefits including pension, flexible working, leave hours, training opportunities, and partially paid parental leave. TU Delft also notes relocation support for moving to the Netherlands.
Deadline: 9 November 2026. How to apply: submit the application online via the application button, including a CV and motivational letter. If shortlisted, you may be asked for contact details of two referees.
