About this position

Amsterdam UMC is recruiting a Postdoc in imaging genetics to join the international ENIGMA-EEG consortium. The project investigates how genetic factors shape brain activity, EEG oscillations, behaviour, and mental health using large-scale genetic and EEG datasets.

This interdisciplinary, NWO-funded postdoctoral project combines genomics, transcriptomics, machine learning, GWAS, polygenic scoring, and advanced EEG analysis. The successful candidate will coordinate data access and integration across participating cohorts, develop research projects with international collaborators, conduct meta-analyses, standardise EEG workflows, and publish and present findings.

The role is based at Amsterdam UMC within the Genetic Epidemiology research group in the Department of Psychiatry, with collaboration from the Psychiatric Imaging group led by Prof. Dr. Guido van Wingen. The consortium includes teams in Europe, the United States, and Australia, and the project is led by Dr. Dirk Smit with co-chair Dr. Philippe Jawinski (Humboldt University in Berlin).

Applicants must hold a PhD in imaging genetics, genetic epidemiology, neuroscience, biological psychology, or a related field. Strong programming/data-analysis skills in Bash, Python, and/or R are expected, along with experience in genetic or physiological data analysis; neural-network experience is a plus. Excellent English communication skills are required.

The position offers a 12-month contract with the intention to extend for another year. Salary is €3,724–€5,867 gross per month for full-time employment, plus an end-of-year bonus and standard employment benefits.

Deadline: 5 November 2026. Applications are reviewed continuously and may close early if the vacancy is filled.
