About this position

Postdoc in Mass Spectrometry for Detecting Oxygenated Radicals in Air at KTH Royal Institute of Technology (School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health), Stockholm, Sweden.

This postdoctoral project is part of the ERC Advanced project EPHEMERAL and focuses on the development and application of proton transfer mass spectrometry (PTr-MS) to detect individual oxygenated organic radicals in ambient air. The work includes characterization and optimization of a state-of-the-art time-of-flight mass spectrometer and related instruments for laboratory and atmospheric measurements.

The position is hosted in the Nozière group at the Department of Chemistry, KTH. Research interests span chemistry, physics, atmospheric chemistry, gas-phase kinetics, and advanced analytical instrumentation.

Eligibility highlights: a doctoral degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field; documented experimental experience with gas flow systems; some experience in standalone mass spectrometry; strong English communication skills; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Preferred experience includes instrument development, chemical ionization, PTr-MS, Time-of-Flight MS, and knowledge of atmospheric chemistry or gas-phase kinetics.

Funding and appointment: temporary full-time postdoctoral employment for up to two years. Salary is monthly; no stipend amount is stated.

How to apply: submit the application through KTH's recruitment system. Include a CV, diplomas and grades, publication list, and a brief cover letter. Ask three referees to send letters directly to Prof. Nozière.

Deadline: 2026-09-01.
