About this position
CNRS and the Institut d'Electronique de Microélectronique et de Nanotechnologie (IEMN) are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a project on non-conventional computing, especially reservoir computing, using coupled double-drum nanoelectromechanical resonator networks.
The research is based at IEMN in Villeneuve d'Ascq, France, near Lille. The lab works across physics, materials science, acoustics, micro- and nanotechnology, and provides a reservoir-computing measurement setup, high-frequency NEMS characterization platform, numerical simulators, and a multiphysics environment.
The project aims to develop reservoir computing functions in a coupled NEMS network of two or more double-drum resonators. This is positioned as a step beyond the current state of the art and is linked to future energy-efficient AI hardware on a chip.
Typical activities include experimental characterization of coupled silicon nitride nanoelectromechanical oscillators, FPGA-based reservoir-computing measurements, multiphysics modelling and analytical/numerical simulations, data analysis in Python or MATLAB, support for PhD students, and dissemination through reports, papers, and conference presentations.
Eligibility highlights: PhD or near-PhD in nano-mechanics/nanoelectromechanics, optomechanics, multiphysics modelling, or high-frequency devices; basic analog/digital circuit knowledge; experience with lock-in amplifiers, oscilloscopes, FPGA, and programming in Python or MATLAB; strong English communication skills. French is helpful but not required.
Funding: the post is funded by the IMITECH project. It is a full-time temporary postdoctoral contract; no salary amount is stated.
Deadline: 9 October 2026, 23:59 UTC.
How to apply: submit your application via the CNRS job portal. A Euraxess application page is also linked in the post.
