The role sits within the Automated Nanomaterials Engineering (ANiME) research line, coordinated by Dr. Milena Arciniegas. The group develops solution-based routes for organic-inorganic functional materials, with a focus on layered organic-inorganic materials, structure–property relationships, and automated experimental workflows for accelerated materials discovery.
Research themes include chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, layered materials, hybrid semiconductors, low-dimensional systems, X-ray diffraction, optical characterization, optoelectronic characterization, and automation/data-driven materials research.
Responsibilities include designing and synthesizing layered materials using wet chemistry, developing new synthetic protocols, performing structural and optical characterization, analyzing crystallographic data, preparing publications, presenting at conferences, supervising junior researchers, and contributing to ERC-funded collaborative research.
Essential requirements: a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field; experience in synthesis of functional materials; strong background in layered materials or hybrid low-dimensional systems; experience with single-crystal and/or powder XRD; strong publication record; and excellent English.
Funding and contract: 2-year collaboration contract with a gross yearly salary of €38,000–€42,000. Private health care coverage may be included depending on role and contract. The position is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) through the EVA project.
