About this position
Aarhus University is advertising a postdoc in photon-counting CT for proton therapy at the Department of Clinical Medicine / Danish Centre for Particle Therapy (DCPT), with the workplace at Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark.
The project sits at the intersection of medical physics, computed tomography, radiotherapy treatment planning, proton therapy, deep learning, and CT image analysis. The research aims to investigate new photon-counting CT scanner technology for treatment planning, improve delineation and dose calculation, reduce imaging dose and patient burden, and develop clinical workflows for photon-counting CT-based radiotherapy planning. It also includes visualisation strategies, deep learning methods to enhance CT images, and algorithms for virtual iodine contrast removal.
This is a fixed-term full-time postdoc for three years, starting 1 October 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter. The postdoc will contribute to high-quality research, publication and conference dissemination, and mentoring/teaching of bachelor and master students.
Eligibility highlights: PhD level qualification in medical physics, physics, biomedical engineering, or computer science; the PhD topic must be relevant to CT imaging and radiotherapy. Experience with photon-counting CT is a strong advantage, deep learning is beneficial, and strong coding skills are required. Applicants whose PhD is not yet completed must document that the thesis will be submitted before the start date. Fluent oral and written English is required.
Deadline: 17 August 2026 at 23:59 CEST.
How to apply: Apply via Aarhus University’s recruitment system. Prepare a motivated application, CV, diploma, postdoc applicant template, publication list, and teaching portfolio; optional uploads include up to five key publications, a research plan, coauthor statements, and references/recommendations.
