About this position
Aarhus University’s Department of Physics and Astronomy is advertising a 2-year full-time postdoc in Probing Nanoscale Heterogeneity in Ultrafast Phase Transitions.
The project focuses on physics, chemistry, and materials science at the nanoscale, using a recently developed soft X-ray imaging method to study the dynamics of light-induced phase transitions with X-ray Free Electron Lasers (XFELs). The work also includes lab-based experiments in time-resolved nonlinear optics.
The postdoc will lead XFEL and synchrotron experiments in soft X-ray imaging, prepare and characterize samples, and conduct nonlinear optics experiments in the laboratory.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field, and experience with ultrafast lasers, X-rays, and/or quantum materials is expected.
Location: Ny Munkegade 120, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark, at Aarhus University.
Deadline: 16 December 2026 at 23:59 CET.
How to apply: submit the application in English via Aarhus University’s recruitment system and include the required documents (CV, degree certificate, publication list, research plan, research activity information, teaching portfolio, and verified teaching experience if any).
Contact person: Simon Elliot Wall, Associate Professor, Department of Physics and Astronomy.
