About this position

Postdoc in Satellite Glaciology at DTU Space in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.

This postdoctoral position is in the Geodesy and Earth Observation (GEO) Division at the Technical University of Denmark, within the Cryosphere Research group. The project focuses on Earth Observation, remote sensing, satellite geodesy, glaciology, and cryosphere science, with a specific emphasis on the Greenland Ice Sheet and the SWOT satellite mission.

The successful candidate will develop and apply new methods to extract surface elevation-change signals from SWOT altimetry over the Greenland Ice Sheet, correct geolocation offsets, validate results against ICESat-2 laser altimetry, and combine elevation-change and backscatter observations to investigate subglacial hydrological activity. The work aims to improve understanding of meltwater routing beneath the ice sheet and its implications for ice dynamics in a warming climate.

Requirements include a PhD degree or equivalent, a strong quantitative background in remote sensing, satellite geodesy, glaciology, or a related field, solid programming and data-analysis skills (ideally Python), experience with Earth Observation data and preferably satellite altimetry, and strong English communication skills. The role also includes presenting at conferences, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, collaborating with colleagues and partners, and limited teaching within DTU Space.

Funding is through a 2-year postdoctoral appointment under Danish collective agreement terms; salary supplements may be negotiated. No scholarship or tuition waiver is mentioned.

Applications must be submitted online as one PDF file in English, including a cover letter, CV, academic diplomas (MSc/PhD), and publication list. The deadline is 12 November 2026.
