About this position

Postdoc opportunity at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in solid-state batteries, with a focus on atomistic modelling and the synthesis of ceramic electrolytes. The project is part of the Swedish governmental battery initiative COMPEL and is shared between the Department of Material Science & Engineering (ITM) and the Department of Chemistry (CBH).

The research aims to develop next-generation composite solid-state batteries by studying halide and sulfide ceramic electrolytes. The work combines DFT modelling, atomistic simulations, wet chemical/inorganic synthesis, and experimental characterization to understand ionic transport, interfacial stability, and material suitability for battery applications.

Degree level: postdoctoral fellow, up to 2 years. Location: Stockholm, Sweden. Start date: 2026-10-01 or according to agreement.

Eligibility highlights: doctoral degree in Physics, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; experience in electrochemistry; strong laboratory and computational skills; excellent English; preferred recent PhD, solid-state battery experience, electrochemical characterization, and DFT/inorganic synthesis expertise.

How to apply: submit the application in KTH's recruitment system with CV, diplomas and grades, a one-page research motivation letter, and references/recommendation letters. Deadline: 2026-08-15.
