About this position
Postdoc opportunity at the University of Groningen in the project “The roles of siblings and school peers in young adults’ life-course events”, hosted by the Faculty of Spatial Sciences / Population Research Centre.
The project examines how siblings and school peers shape important transitions in young adulthood, including leaving and returning to the parental home, residential moves, entry into and exit from post-secondary education, and entry into the labour market. The work uses register data covering the entire population of young adults in the Netherlands, including family and school-peer network data, and applies advanced quantitative/statistical methods.
The postdoc will focus especially on life-course transitions related to education and the labour market, collaborate with the research team, co-supervise a PhD student, prepare and analyse register data, co-author scientific and outreach articles, and lead stakeholder workshops. Some teaching at bachelor or master level may be included (up to 10% of the appointment).
Eligibility highlights: a recently completed PhD (or completion before the start date around January 2027) in sociology, education science, population studies, demography, human geography, economics, or a related social science; strong quantitative research experience; publications in peer-reviewed international journals; fluency in English; Dutch is preferred or willingness to learn; experience supervising junior researchers is a plus.
