About this position

Join INES at TU Wien: an open postdoc position in Landscape, Health, and Immersive Technologies.

The project, INES – Immersive Natural Environments for Stress Reduction, is a new FFG-funded research initiative in the research area of Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning. The position is a Postdoc Stelle (Projektassistenz), 20 hours/week, for 2 years, starting 1 January 2027 and ending 31 December 2028.

The research explores how digital immersive technologies can be used not only to represent landscapes, but to design them as regenerative environments. The project investigates which landscape design features support stress reduction and recovery, how these effects are mediated neurophysiologically, and how virtual landscapes can be adapted to individual neurophysiological states.

This is an interdisciplinary opportunity at the intersection of landscape architecture, landscape planning, health, XR/VR, virtual worlds, environmental psychology, and neuroscience. The project consortium includes FHV Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences and the Medical University of Innsbruck, with the TU Wien project team led by DI Dr. Boris Salak and Prof. Dr. Susann Ahn.

Application deadline: 21 October 2026.
