About this position

Warsaw University of Technology is offering a full-time postdoctoral position in the Faculty of Mechatronics, within the Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics in Warsaw, Poland. The post is part of the project “Multimodal multiphoton nanoscopy using SPAD array detectors and adaptive optics” under the First Team programme of the Foundation for Polish Science, co-financed by the European Union through the European Funds for Smart Economy 2021–2027 (FENG).

The Quantitative Computational Imaging Lab (QCI Lab) is seeking a postdoc to contribute to research at the intersection of microscopy, photonics, biomedical engineering, and advanced computational analysis. The project focuses on developing a unique multiphoton microscopy system equipped with a SPAD array detector and an adaptive optics setup. The successful candidate will be involved in experimental work, including construction, calibration, and alignment of the microscope system, as well as acquisition and processing of imaging data.

Additional tasks include cooperation with biological partners, documentation of research results, preparation of reports and presentation/publication materials, design and fabrication of calibration test phantoms, and development and testing of acquisition software, image analysis algorithms, and localization methods. This is a research-intensive role suitable for candidates with strong experimental optics skills and coding ability.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD in physics, optical engineering, biomedical engineering, electronics, or a related field (or a scheduled defence before the start date), strong experience in modern imaging and microscopy, good programming skills in Python/MATLAB/LabVIEW, and fluent English. Experience in laboratory work and advanced data analysis is advantageous. The appointment is for 24 months, starting 12 October 2026, with a gross-gross monthly salary of 13,333 PLN.

Applications must be submitted by 25 September 2026. Required documents are a CV, a short motivation letter (maximum one page), a list of projects/achievements/publications, and a PhD diploma or confirmation of the scheduled defence date. Applications should be sent by email to the contact addresses listed in the call.
