About this position

A postdoc position is available in the group of Dr Damien Sluysmans at the University of Liège (NANOCHEM, Department of Chemistry, Belgium) in the framework of the NanoMuscles project funded by the FNRS.

The research sits at the interface of physical chemistry, nanochemistry, biophysics, chemical physics, and molecular chemistry. The NANOCHEM / NanoChemistry & Molecular System group uses single-molecule techniques, AFM, and optical tweezers to investigate the operation of small synthetic molecules and biomolecules. A major focus is the development and application of single-molecule force spectroscopy (SMFS) to probe, trigger, and control individual molecules in chemistry and biology.

The successful candidate will study the mechano-chemical properties of functional molecules using single-molecule force spectroscopy and will join an active environment including postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, and staff from chemistry, biology, physics, and engineering. The group offers access to experimental facilities and international collaborations.

This is a full-time temporary appointment for 1 year with a possibility of extension. The position is based in Liège, Belgium, and is scheduled to start on 1 January 2027. The deadline for applications is 31 October 2026.
