About this position

Argonne National Laboratory is recruiting a Postdoctoral Appointee in Single Electron Qubits (NST) at the Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) in Lemont, Illinois, USA.

The project focuses on the development of single electron on solid neon qubits and aims to advance this emerging qubit platform by realizing high-fidelity two-qubit gates. The postdoc will design qubit devices, fabricate them in the CNM cleanroom, and characterize them in CNM quantum labs while collaborating with Argonne scientists and external partners on local quantum experiments.

Research areas/keywords: quantum physics, quantum information science, experimental physics, nanofabrication, superconducting devices, microwave characterization, cryogenic experiments, dilution refrigerator operation, and electron qubit design/measurement.

Eligibility highlights: recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within 0-5 years) in experimental physics, engineering, or a closely related field; experience in experimental physics/engineering, nanofabrication, quantum information science, and/or microwave and superconducting device characterization; strong communication skills and collaborative research ability. Preferred experience includes superconducting qubits, low-temperature experiments, and cryogenic device work.

Funding: full-time postdoctoral position with an expected salary range of $72,879-$121,465 plus comprehensive benefits.

Application: apply in Workday and upload a CV/resume, unofficial PhD transcripts, and a copy of the PhD diploma if already awarded.
