About this position
University of Florida is advertising a Postdoctoral Associate position in cryogenic electron microscopy (CryoEM) and structural biology in the laboratory of Tina Izard at UF Scripps in Jupiter, Florida.
The project sits at the interface of membrane biophysics, cell adhesion signaling, and structural studies of membrane proteins. Research themes include integrins, GPCRs, lipid interactions, membrane organization, mechanics, and related signaling systems. The lab offers a well-equipped structural biology environment with access to a cryoARM300 300 kV microscope with Gatan K3 detector, X-ray crystallography infrastructure, protein biochemistry, membrane reconstitution, and quantitative biophysics.
Possible research directions include single-particle CryoEM of membrane proteins and adhesion complexes, protein-lipid interactions using nanodiscs/liposomes/monolayers, structure-function analysis by X-ray crystallography and biophysics, and integration with cellular or infection/immunity-based readouts where appropriate.
Eligibility highlights: a recently awarded PhD in a relevant scientific discipline is required; a recent PhD in structural biology is preferred. Applicants should have strong experience in protein expression, purification, and biochemical characterization, with CryoEM and/or X-ray crystallography experience strongly valued. Strong organizational and communication skills are also expected.
Funding: NRSA minimum salary. This is a time-limited postdoctoral appointment and the requisition may be used to fill multiple positions.
How to apply: Email a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for three references to [email protected]. The UF application process also asks for a cover letter and resume, and the final candidate must provide official transcripts. Review begins immediately / March 25, 2026, and the position remains open until filled.
Funding details
Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
How to apply
Please submit your application including a cover letter, CV, academic transcripts, and contact information for two references. Applications should be sent via the online portal before the deadline.
