About this position

University of Dundee is advertising a Postdoctoral Scientist position (UOD2333) in the Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation within the Faculty of Life Sciences.

The project sits in an interdisciplinary, cross-institutional collaboration focused on developing Phosphatase Targeting Chimeras (PhosTACs). The successful candidate will work in the CeTPD laboratories on structural biology and molecular biophysics, characterising protein-ligand interactions and protein-protein complexes to understand binding modes, structure-activity relationships (SAR), and to guide improved molecule design.

Key techniques and responsibilities include X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, NMR spectroscopy, SPR, ITC, fluorescence-based assays, protein expression and purification, construct design, and structure-guided design recommendations. This is described as a more independent role than a standard support post, with increasing ownership of structural enablement and a leading role in the collaboration’s design workstream.

Applicants should hold a PhD in structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry, chemical/molecular biology, or a related discipline. Strong experience in structural biology and biophysics, especially structure-based drug design, is expected. Experience with protein structure determination and biophysical binding assays is strongly desired, along with strong communication, time management, teamwork, and independent working skills.

Funding/salary: fixed-term postdoctoral employment with a salary of £37,174 - £45,413 per annum (Grade 7).

Deadline: Monday, 31 August 2026, 23:59.
