About this position

Postdoctoral Position in Structural Biology, Electrophysiology, and Dynamic Structural Biophysics at the State University of New York at Buffalo (Department of Physiology and Biophysics, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences).

The Qin Laboratory for Dynamic Structural Biophysics is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work at the interface of structural biology, electrophysiology, biophysics, protein biochemistry, neuroscience, and physiology. The lab studies thermoTRP ion channels and protein dynamics, with projects involving temperature sensing, time-resolved cryo-EM, ultrafast perturbation methods, fluorescence microscopy, thermodynamics, and quantitative modeling.

The position is supported by a newly funded NIH R35 Outstanding Investigator Award. The lab emphasizes close mentoring, interdisciplinary collaboration, creativity, and professional development. The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Feng Qin and collaborators, with access to state-of-the-art cryo-EM resources through collaboration with Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Eligibility: Applicants should have, or be close to completing, a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Prior experience in electrophysiology, protein biochemistry, structural biology, cryo-EM, or fluorescence microscopy is preferred but not required.

Funding: Salary is approximately USD $60,000 or higher, commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with NIH guidelines, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Visa sponsorship is available for qualified international applicants.

How to apply: Email a CV, brief statement of research interests, and contact information for 2-3 references to [email protected] with the subject line Postdoctoral Application. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, and the posting closes no later than 2027-08-10.
