About this position

The Jackson Laboratory is advertising a Postdoctoral Associate position in Dr. Bennett’s laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, United States.

The project centers on hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) development, especially the specification and maturation of HSCs in embryonic development. Research themes include how TGF-β/BMP signaling regulates the transition from pre-HSCs to transplantable HSCs, the role of SMAD7 and downstream effectors, and the identification of novel regulators of rare pre-hematopoietic stem cell intermediates arising from hemogenic endothelium.

The Bennett Lab uses a multidisciplinary toolkit including mouse genetics, embryo models, transplantation assays, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, clonal barcoding, and single-cell genomics. The postdoc will plan, develop, execute, and analyze an independent project aligned with these themes, with opportunities to prepare manuscripts, fellowship applications, and conference presentations, and to mentor junior lab members.

Eligibility highlights: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent in biological sciences or a related discipline; at least one first-author publication; strong training in molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, or stem cell biology; excellent communication skills; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Preferred experience includes hematopoiesis, vascular biology, mouse models, lineage tracing, cell sorting, single-cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, spatial genomics, lentiviral systems, clonal barcoding, computational biology, or bioinformatics.

Funding: This is a paid postdoctoral role with a salary scale based on postdoctoral experience, starting at $65,589 and increasing with years of experience. The lab also supports career development activities.

How to apply: Submit a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references using the application link in the posting.
