About this position
Baylor College of Medicine is advertising a Postdoctoral Associate position in the Division of Pediatrics, based onsite in Houston, Texas, United States.
The project is highly interdisciplinary and focuses on how infection leaves durable epigenetic and transcriptional scars that shape long-term immunity, inflammation, and lung repair. The work combines single-cell transcriptomics, chromatin accessibility, and CRISPR-based gene and epigenetic perturbation with deep phenotyping of human cohorts.
Research activities include scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, CITE-seq, Perturb-seq, Cut and Run, bulk RNA-seq, proteomics, and metabolomics on samples from participants recovering from sepsis, pneumonia, and tuberculosis. Functional validation will use CRISPRi/a in primary immune cells and lung organoids to study inflammation, immune memory, tissue repair, and post-infectious lung disease.
Applicants should hold an MD or PhD in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field. Preferred preparation includes a PhD in Biology, Immunology, or a similar area, plus a strong background in statistics. Experience with epigenetics or gene regulation and analysis tools such as R or Python is recommended. Strong English communication skills and the ability to work in large collaborative teams are also emphasized.
The position is salaried, with a listed range of $62,232–$68,000. The posting notes that the role is intended to support high-impact first-author publications and may help build toward K-level or equivalent fellowship applications, or a transition to faculty.
Interested candidates should apply through the Baylor College of Medicine careers portal using requisition 24695.
