About this position
Postdoctoral Associate in Neuroimmunology at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities, Minneapolis, United States).
The Kashem Laboratory is recruiting multiple postdoctoral associates to lead independent, high-impact projects at the interface of tissue immunology, neuroscience, and sensory biology. The lab studies how immune cells and neurons communicate within tissues to regulate inflammation, sensation, chronic pain, and itch, with a strong emphasis on endogenous opioid signaling, including enkephalin and delta opioid receptor pathways. Current and emerging approaches include mouse genetics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, in vivo calcium imaging, sensory behavioral assays, molecular pharmacology, iPSC-based systems, and CRISPR screening.
This is a research-intensive postdoctoral role designed to support scientific independence. Postdocs will design and run their own experimental programs while contributing to a collaborative lab environment. Responsibilities include experiment design and analysis, laboratory record-keeping, participation in lab and departmental meetings, and scientific writing for manuscripts, grants, and fellowship proposals.
Eligibility highlights: PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) in immunology, neuroscience, or a related field completed or expected before the start date; demonstrated productivity; ability to work independently; and strong scientific communication. Preferred experience includes cellular/molecular immunology, sensory neuroscience, mouse genetics, genomics, imaging, GPCR/opioid signaling, and quantitative analysis skills (R/Python).
