About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow in Cardiac Fibrosis Genomics at the University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Department of Biomedical Sciences (Panum Institute), Denmark.

This 2-year postdoc focuses on cardiac fibrosis, human genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, multi-omics, RNA sequencing, proteomics, and zebrafish genetics. The project aims to connect human genetic discoveries to functional validation in zebrafish, using sequencing, proteomic, imaging, and functional assay approaches to identify genes and pathways involved in fibrotic remodeling of the heart.

The position is in the Cardiac Functional Genomics Group led by Pia Rengtved Lundegaard at the University of Copenhagen. The group works on the genetic and molecular basis of heart disease and integrates human genetics with mechanistic studies in zebrafish.

Eligibility highlights: PhD or near completion in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics, or a related field; experience with computational analysis of large datasets; scRNA-seq and/or bulk RNA-seq analysis; proteomics data analysis; interest in translational human genetics; strong teamwork and communication skills; excellent English.

Funding and terms: fixed-term postdoctoral employment for 2 years. Salary and pension follow the Danish academic agreement; the monthly salary starts at 39,950 DKK (approx. 5,340 EUR, August 2026 level), with possible supplement depending on qualifications, and the employer contributes 18.07% to pension. Tax reductions may be available for eligible foreign and Danish applicants.

Application: submit the online application in English via the university portal by 18 October 2026, 23:59 CET. Required documents include a one-page motivation letter, CV, certified/signed PhD and MSc certificates (or supervisor statement if the PhD is not completed), and a publication list.
