About this position

The Yoshihara Laboratory at the Lundquist Institute at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is recruiting several postdoctoral researchers in endocrinology, stem cell biology, animal physiology, and genomics.

The lab integrates stem cell-derived artificial human organs, physiological analyses using animal models, and genomic analyses to study ontogeny, metabolic homeostasis, diabetes, neurological diseases, and developmental disorders. The research environment includes access to state-of-the-art facilities at the Lundquist Institute and, through the PI’s UCLA Assistant Professor appointment, UCLA research core facilities as well.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or science. Strong backgrounds in molecular biology, genomics, stem cells, animal models, and bioinformatics are preferred, and experience in immunology, stem-cell/materials bioengineering, or epigenetics is especially welcome. The position also involves mentoring UCLA undergraduates, presenting at conferences, and publishing papers, so teamwork and motivation are important.

This is a fixed-term postdoctoral appointment of 2 years or more. Salary starts at about USD 70,304/year plus benefits including health insurance, with annual increases expected under NIH/California guidelines. J-1 visa support from UCLA is available. The lab notes that applicants who already have scholarship or research-grant support, or who plan to apply for such support, are welcome.

The work location is Torrance, California, USA. Applications are accepted from February 4, 2026 through August 30, 2026, and will close earlier if a suitable candidate is found.
