About this position
Postdoctoral Fellow in Microglia–Neural Circuit Interactions in Memory and Disease at Lund University (Faculty of Medicine, MultiPark), Sweden.
This postdoctoral opening sits at the interface of neuroscience, microglial biology, neuroimmune interactions, and brain disease. The research group aims to understand how microglia dynamically modulate neural circuits to shape memory formation and extinction across health and disease, including psychiatric disorders such as anxiety and fear disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.
The successful candidate will work with cutting-edge methods including two-photon microscopy, miniature microscope, optogenetics, behavioral phenotyping, transcriptomics, in vivo calcium imaging, immunohistochemistry, and morphological analysis of microglia and neurons. The role includes leading independent research projects, performing in vivo calcium imaging and behavioral experiments, and analyzing neuronal and microglial activity datasets.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in neuroscience is required; applicants should have hands-on experience with in vivo calcium imaging, microglia biology or neuroimmune interactions, behavioral experiments, and strong data analysis skills (MATLAB or Python). FELASA B certification or equivalent for mouse experiments is required. Preference is given to candidates who obtained their PhD no more than three years before the deadline.
Funding/employment: this is a full-time, fixed-term postdoctoral employment for two years initially, with a possibility of extension to three years according to collective agreement. The post also mentions support for applying for a postdoc fellowship. No stipend amount is stated.
Application window: published 2026-07-01; last application date 2026-09-15. Apply via the Lund University recruitment system with a personal letter, degree certificate, CV, and any supporting documents.
