About this position

Barrow Neurological Institute is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow for the Ronald Tjalkens, PhD Laboratory in Phoenix, Arizona, United States.

The lab studies neurodegeneration through the lens of gene x environment interactions and the exposome, with emphasis on Parkinson’s disease and related aging disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body dementia, Parkinson’s disease with cognitive decline, and fronto-temporal dementia.

Research in the group focuses on inflammatory signaling in glial cells and neuroimmune crosstalk, aiming to understand events that may precede and amplify neuronal vulnerability to neurotoxic insults across the lifespan. Methods include high-content microscopy, deep learning-based image analysis, flow cytometry, imaging mass cytometry, and omics-level molecular profiling in in vivo and in vitro models, as well as human tissues.

Eligibility: applicants should hold a PhD in toxicology, neuroscience, cellular/molecular biology, or a related field. Preferred experience includes transgenic murine models of neurodegeneration, behavioral phenotyping, immunohistochemical/immunofluorescent staining, microscopy, and quantitative digital pathology tools such as Visiopharm, ImageJ, QuPath, or Imaris.

Funding: not specified in the post.

How to apply: email a CV to [email protected]. A laboratory website is also provided for more information.
