About this position

La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Grifoni Lab in La Jolla, California, United States. The project centers on immune responses to infection and vaccines, with a strong emphasis on human and mouse T cell responses to infectious diseases and emergent viral pathogens, including coronaviruses, enteroviruses, orthomyxoviruses, orthopoxviruses, arenaviruses, and other globally relevant viruses.

The role is well suited to candidates interested in translational research with applications in health care. The lab highlights work on T cell responses induced by infections and current or novel viral-based vaccines, and the position is embedded in a supportive, collaborative research environment with mentorship and professional development.

Required background includes a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in immunology, virology, or bioinformatics, at least 4 years of hands-on experience in T cell immunology and/or virology, and strong practical skills in cell culture, multi-color flow cytometry (10+ colors required, 20+ preferred), and FluoroSpot/ELISPOT assays. Applicants should also have excellent scientific writing and communication skills.

Preferred experience includes in vivo mouse models of viral infection and analysis of large-scale datasets such as viral sequences, scRNAseq, and TCRseq, with computational and statistical software proficiency.

Funding and benefits include a salary commensurate with experience, plus medical/dental/vision coverage, paid sick leave, retirement contributions, and access to cutting-edge facilities and resources. The posting does not list a deadline.

To apply, submit a single file containing a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references through the job portal.
