About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow in the astrophysics of Haro11 at Stockholm University, Department of Astronomy.

This postdoctoral project is part of an observational JWST programme on the nearest Lyman continuum leaker, the blue compact galaxy Haro11. The work focuses on analysis of JWST imaging and spectroscopy, including NIRSpec, MIRI, and NIRCam data, with scientific interests in nebular emission, PAH and dust emission, embedded star clusters, suspected black-hole-powered sources, ionization budget, and escape of ionizing photons.

The department’s broader research environment includes galaxies, supernovae, computational astrophysics, solar physics, and planet/star formation, with links to the Oskar Klein Centre and NORDITA.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent relevant doctoral degree from another country by the time the employment decision is made or the position starts. Recent PhD completion is advantageous, and expertise in integral field spectroscopy and photoionization/nebular modelling is a plus.

Funding and appointment: full-time temporary employment for at least two years, with a possible extension of up to one additional year depending on available funding. Salary is individually set.

Location: Stockholm, Sweden.

Deadline: 2026-08-31.
