About this position
Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland, is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Zero-Excess Lithium Anode Sulfide-Based All-Solid-State Batteries.
The project focuses on next-generation solid-state battery research, including zero-excess (anode-free) lithium metal systems, sulfide-based solid electrolytes, interface engineering and protective interlayers, lithium plating/stripping mechanisms, wet-slurry processing of composite cathodes, and multilayer pouch-cell fabrication.
The successful candidate will work on developing and optimizing sulfide-based ASSBs, designing current collectors and interface strategies, fabricating and evaluating multilayer pouch cells, and performing electrochemical characterization such as CV, EIS, galvanostatic cycling, critical current density, and coulombic efficiency. The role also includes publishing in high-impact journals and presenting at international conferences.
Eligibility: a PhD in Electrochemistry, Materials Science, Inorganic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field; hands-on experience with lithium metal and sulfide-based all-solid-state batteries; experience with coin and pouch cell assembly/testing; strong materials and electrochemical characterization skills; a strong publication record in batteries or energy-storage materials; and excellent English communication skills.
Location: Villigen, Switzerland. Appointment: full-time (100%), 2-year fixed-term postdoctoral fellowship. Deadline: 31 July 2026.
Application materials mentioned in the post include a CV, list of publications, and referee contact details.
