About this position

Western University is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Ozone Modelling in London, Ontario, Canada. The project focuses on developing computational models for water ozonation, with the goal of creating an efficient model for gas-to-liquid transfer, ozone consumption, and oxidation of target compounds.

The successful candidate will work with ANSYS Fluent and/or OpenFOAM to develop or implement models for mass transfer, ozone decomposition, chemical reaction kinetics, radical generation, molecular and radical oxidation, and optical absorbers that account for water matrix composition and characteristics.

The fellowship is supervised by Christopher DeGroot (Associate Professor, Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Western University) and is sponsored by Trojan Technologies. The position is funded through a Mitacs Elevate post-doctoral fellowship.

Eligibility highlights include a Ph.D. granted within the last 5 years, eligibility for registration as a postdoctoral fellow at Western University, and recent experience in two-phase computational modelling with UDFs in ANSYS Fluent and/or custom OpenFOAM models. Strong CFD and simulation skills are required. Helpful extras include SolidWorks, Python/C++ coding, systems/software maintenance, and radiation modelling experience.

Applications should be submitted by email with a cover letter and CV to [email protected]. Use the subject line Application for Post-doctoral fellowship in Ozonation. The closure date is 2026-08-15.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
