About this position

Stanford University is advertising a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Ngan F. Huang, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford School of Medicine.

The project focuses on cell-biomaterial interactions, especially how extracellular matrix factors such as substrate rigidity and ligand binding density regulate (1) differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells into cardiovascular lineages and (2) transdifferentiation of somatic cells into cardiovascular lineage. The work combines biomaterials, computational biology, machine learning, and predictive AI models to understand how cells interpret and respond to their microenvironment.

Applicants should have a PhD in bioengineering with strong computational biology and machine learning expertise. Candidates with molecular biology or engineering degrees plus coding experience may also be considered. A strong publication record and excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills are expected. Experience with biomaterials and iPSC culture is a plus.

The appointment term is 2 years, with a start date of 09/2026. The position pays at least the Stanford postdoctoral minimum salary (FY27 minimum base pay: $79,056).

To apply, email Dr. Huang with a CV and a cover letter describing your research experience and interests.
