About this position

Postdoctoral position in avian genetics and genomics at the joint research unit PEGASE (INRAE) in Saint-Gilles, Brittany, France, working on the COCORIX project with industry partner Novogen.

The project focuses on improving the genetic performance of laying hens through crossbreeding and integrating performance testing of candidates’ crossbred offspring into breeding programmes. The postdoctoral researcher will work with Nicolas Bédère and Sophie Allais in the Avian Genetics and Genomics team.

Research tasks include: calculating genetic parameters for survival traits, egg weight, and hen body weight; estimating the genetic correlation between purebred and crossbred performance; estimating General Combining Ability (GCA) and Specific Combining Ability (SCA) in purebred lines; and simulating/analyzing new selection schemes that incorporate phenotypes and genotypes of crossbred individuals.

This is a 24-month postdoctoral contract starting in December 2026, with a gross monthly salary of €3,135–€3,559. Applicants should submit a motivation letter and CV by email to the supervisors.

Deadline: 30 November 2026.
