About this position
INRAE is advertising a two-year postdoctoral position in the GeMS team (Genetics, Microbiota, Health) within the GABI unit at Jouy-en-Salaclay, near Paris, France.
The project is titled Epidemiogenetics of resistance to coccidiosis in chicken and is based on the EPIDGENCO experimental dataset, where the day-by-day spread of Eimeria acervulina was tracked in two contrasted chicken lines. The research aims to understand how disease response varies between hosts and how poultry resilience to infectious disease can be improved at the flock level.
Core research topics include quantitative genetics, epidemiological modelling, biostatistics, simulation, host-response traits, and infectious disease resistance in poultry/chickens. The successful candidate will estimate and compare traits such as susceptibility, infectivity, infection duration, tolerance, and compensatory growth, and will use simulation to identify the minimum phenotyping effort needed for reliable on-farm genetic evaluation of these social traits.
Applicants should have a strong background in quantitative genetics, epidemiological modelling, and/or biostatistics, with practical skills in R and/or Python. The post is part of the EUPAHWE European partnership.
