About this position
Postdoctoral opportunity in Hydrology, Hydrogeology, and Hydroclimatology at Cerema ENDSUM in Rouen, Normandy, France, with collaboration with the UMR M2C CNRS laboratory.
The position is part of a research effort on the Non-Destructive Evaluation of Structures and Materials (ENDSUM) team and focuses on innovative hydrological methods to study wetlands such as peat bogs and marshes. The work combines high-resolution data acquisition, real-time piezometry, subsurface geophysical methods, multispectral drone sensors, and processing of Earth observation data such as Sentinel and LiDAR to analyze groundwater-surface dynamics.
Research tasks include collecting and harmonizing hydrometeorological data for modeling, instrumenting pilot sites, monitoring advances in wetland hydrology, developing indicators of water resilience, implementing new tools for processing measurements, and maintaining monitoring of geophysical and non-destructive testing instrumentation, especially as applied to drones.
The postdoctoral researcher will report to the ENDSUM Rouen research fellow and work closely with researchers, engineers, and technicians. The role also includes participation in supervising interns and doctoral students and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in Hydrology or Hydrogeology; experience in experimental research; knowledge of environmental signal analysis and processing; programming skills, preferably in Python; ability to communicate technical results clearly; and strong teamwork, organization, autonomy, and scientific rigor.
Funding: approximately €2,400 net per month for 18 months.
Deadline: August 14, 2026.
How to apply: Prepare a CV, cover letter, and supporting materials. Contact the listed Cerema researchers by email for submission details.
