About this position

Postdoctoral position in knowledge security, international relations, and political science within the NWO-funded project Fostering the Resilience of the Dutch Knowledge Sector: Knowledge Security and Research in a Geopolitical Context (KNOWSEC-NL).

The project investigates how the Dutch knowledge sector can balance international collaboration with geopolitical risks and unwanted foreign interference. The postdoc will contribute to conceptual and normative work packages, including identifying key concepts in knowledge security, conducting a scoping review of risks and benefits of collaboration, evaluating partner screening and risk classification measures, and running group model-building sessions with experts.

The role is based at the University of Groningen and includes a 0.5 FTE secondment at Delft University of Technology. The work connects with a wider consortium involving partners in the Netherlands and internationally. Research domains highlighted in the project include quantum technology, AI, biotechnology, and energy transition technologies.

This is a 3-year postdoctoral position starting 1 January 2027. The vacancy is in Groningen, Netherlands. Applicants must hold a PhD in security studies, higher education studies, or a related field, and have strong English skills; Dutch is preferred. The position offers a monthly salary of €3706–€4925, plus holiday allowance, end-of-year bonus, vacation hours, and professional development opportunities.

Deadline: 13 November 2026. Apply via AcademicTransfer.
