About this position
CNRS and the University of Lorraine are advertising a postdoctoral position in membrane technology for CO2 capture at the Laboratoire Réactions et Génie des Procédés (LRGP) in Nancy, France. The project sits within the STREAM team and the PRIMO research axis, with collaboration involving Stockholm University and the KTH Royal Institute of Technology through the SSF-Accelerate / PEPR SPLEEN framework.
The research is centered on process engineering, chemical engineering, physics, and chemistry, with a strong emphasis on membrane-based separation of CO2/CH4. The postdoctoral researcher will develop and integrate a MATLAB-based HFMC model with Aspen Plus, study multistage and multi-membrane configurations, perform CFD-informed hydrodynamic analysis, and carry out process integration and multi-objective optimization. The role also includes techno-economic and environmental assessment, benchmarking against conventional CO2 capture routes, and dissemination through publications and conferences.
This is a one-year, full-time position. The project is part of IMOSYCCA (Intensified Modular Systems for friendly CO2 Capture), funded through the PEPR SPLEEN programme under France 2030 / ANR. A mobility period in Sweden is expected during the appointment.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field; strong background in transport phenomena, mass transfer, reaction engineering, process design, numerical modelling, simulation, and optimization; proficiency in MATLAB and/or Aspen Plus; experience in membrane technology, gas separation, CO2 capture, CFD, and techno-economic/environmental assessment is an advantage. Basic French is listed.
How to apply: Submit your application via the CNRS vacancy page. Check the Euraxess listing and the CNRS job details for the full description and required documents. The deadline is 30 October 2026.
