About this position
Yale School of Medicine is advertising a postdoctoral position in molecular and cellular biology in the Barak and Gunel Laboratories within the Department of Neurosurgery. The project focuses on the mechanisms of cerebrovascular disorders, including intracranial aneurysms, cavernous malformations, and arteriovenous malformations.
The successful candidate will work on cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and neuroscience-related research using patient cohorts, surgical specimens, cell-based assays, blood vessel organoids, bioprinted vascular models, zebrafish, and mouse models. The role involves collaboration with neurosurgeons, computational scientists, and clinical collaborators.
Key responsibilities include maintaining and engineering mammalian cell lines, performing transfection and gene knockdown/knockout, carrying out western blotting and immunoprecipitation/co-IP, generating and characterizing organoids, maintaining zebrafish and mouse models, and contributing to study design, manuscripts, and presentations.
Applicants must hold a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field. Required experience includes mammalian cell culture and protein biochemistry. Preferred experience includes organoids, in vivo models, molecular cloning, viral vectors, CRISPR-based gene editing, and prior work in cerebrovascular or neurological diseases.
The position is based at the Anlyan Center in New Haven, Connecticut, United States. Salary is listed at $68,000 for year 1, with incremental increases in later years. The appointment is initially for one to two years and may be renewed depending on performance and funding.
