About this position
Postdoctoral Position for Synthetic Biology-Inspired Therapies at ETH Zurich (Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering, D-BSSE), Basel, Switzerland.
The Biotechnology and Bioengineering group led by Prof. Martin Fussenegger invites exceptional candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position in pioneering projects developing synthetic biology-inspired human therapies.
The research sits at the intersection of biology, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, molecular engineering, cell programming, biosensing, and translational medicine. Projects will focus on engineering human cells with synthetic gene circuits and biosensing platforms, developing real-time biosensing systems, creating genetic architectures for precise therapeutic protein regulation, and translating these advances into programmable cellular implant prototypes.
Applicants should have strong hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology, including cultivation and engineering of primary human cells and mammalian cell lines. Experience with in vivo techniques and laboratory animal science certification (FELASA / LTK or equivalent) is an asset. The group welcomes candidates with a strong publication record and interest in academic, industrial R&D, or biotechnology entrepreneurship careers.
The position is based in Basel, Switzerland, in a highly interdisciplinary environment with close collaboration across biology, engineering, physics, chemistry, and clinical research. Applications must be submitted online and should include a CV, publication list, motivation letter, three recommendation letters, and a brief one-page research plan.
No deadline is stated in the post. Questions can be directed to [email protected].
