About this position
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is advertising a postdoctoral position in vanadium redox flow battery recycling in Benguerir, Morocco. The project is centered on sustainable recovery and purification of vanadium and rare-earth elements (REEs) from primary and secondary sources, with a strong emphasis on process optimization for battery-grade materials and circular economy applications.
The successful candidate will work on hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical recovery strategies, thermodynamic modeling with CALPHAD and FactSage, and advanced materials characterization using techniques such as SEM, TEM, HAADF-STEM, XRD, EDS, and LA-ICP-MS. The role also includes environmental and economic assessment through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and techno-economic analysis, plus publication and proposal writing support.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Materials Chemistry, Extractive Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering, with experience in metal recovery from slags or mineral concentrates and strong computational/experimental skills. Knowledge of vanadium and REE chemistry, oxidation states, redox equilibria, and structural analysis methods is expected. Excellent English, a strong publication record, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are also required.
Start date: October 2025. Deadline: 31 October 2026.
To apply, use the THE UniJobs application page and submit the online application with your CV and cover message before the closing date.
