About this position

University of Oxford is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Physics focused on processing and characterisation of metal halide perovskites. The project, “Perfecting Halide Perovskites: From Precursor Ink Chemistry to Defect Control,” is EPSRC-funded and aims to improve understanding of crystallisation, defect formation, and nanoscale chemical/structural composition in halide perovskite thin-films.

The successful candidate will work on fabrication of perovskite thin-films using both solution and vapour-processing approaches, then characterise them with high-resolution electron microscopy and electron diffraction. The work will correlate nanoscale structure and composition with bulk measurements of structure, composition, and optoelectronic properties, with an emphasis on stability and reliability in photovoltaic (PV) and LED devices.

Applicants should be close to obtaining or already hold a PhD in physics, materials science, chemistry, engineering, or a related field. Strong experience with high-resolution electron microscopy/electron diffraction data processing is required, especially for soft materials. Desirable experience includes thin-film fabrication, EDX/EELS, GIWAXS/GISAXS, metal halide perovskites, and cryo-electron microscopy sample preparation.
