Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Turbine Aerothermal Research at the University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science.

This full-time, fixed-term post (1 year) sits in the Oxford Turbine Research Facility group and focuses on turbine rim-sealing technologies, turbomachinery, aero-thermal research, and experimental fluid dynamics. The successful candidate will work on the Oxford Rotor Facility in collaboration with Rolls-Royce, contributing to the design, commissioning, and operation of experiments on a bespoke high-pressure rotating facility.

The role involves planning and delivering experimental campaigns, analysing and interpreting data, communicating results to academic and industrial collaborators, and contributing to publications and presentations. There is also scope to support junior members of the research group.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD/DPhil in engineering or a closely related discipline. Relevant experimental research experience is required, together with specialist knowledge of high-pressure rotating experimental facilities and/or turbomachinery aero-thermal research. Experience with advanced instrumentation such as high-speed pressure measurement, gas-concentration measurements, pressure-sensitive paint, or telemetry systems is especially valuable.
