The R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy at The University of Arizona is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate I in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, working in Dr. Xinglong Wang's laboratory in Tucson, Arizona, United States.
This postdoctoral opening is centered on medicinal chemistry, organic synthesis, small-molecule therapeutics, and drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases. The successful candidate will design, synthesize, purify, and characterize novel compounds; carry out structure-activity relationship studies; and optimize lead molecules for potency, selectivity, physicochemical properties, and drug-like characteristics. The role also involves collaboration on biochemical and cellular assays, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and support for grant-related materials.
Minimum requirement: a PhD in medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, organic chemistry, chemical biology, or a closely related field by the time of hire. Preferred experience includes lead optimization, structure-based or computational drug design, ADME/PK or drug metabolism studies, compound screening, and prior work in neurological or neurodegenerative disease drug discovery. Strong publication record and hands-on expertise with chromatography, HPLC, LC-MS, and NMR are preferred.
